PATH LEADING FROM THE MUDLARK BOTTOMS----------------->

This picture was taken on the path that leads from the Mudlark Bottoms at Stigler Oklahoma.  When Oklahoma was just a territory the outlaws running from the law, and Hanging Judge Parker in Fort Smith Arkansas, would cross the river and ride through this bottom land country.  There were the famous ones like the James brothers, the Dalton gang, and Belle Starr, yet there were also others not so well known but were even worse.

This is a wild and wooley country where panthers, wolves, copperheads, rattlesnakes, cottonmouth water snakes, a few wild Indians, and even a few wild Okies call home. 

I wrote the book "Where Eagles Soar" set in the Sedona Arizona high desert country.  In the sequel to it named "Spirit Of The Wolf" I wrote about the Mudlark Bottom country at Stigler Oklahoma.
